Here is an explanation of this weekly feature. This entry lists the best and worst for the past 30 days of the 2016 regular season, through games of Monday, May 16.
Comment of the week: This entry restarts this weekly feature, which will feature the top and bottom performers for the past 30 days. The idea here is that while it’s easy to look at performance year to date, or for a given month, it’s worthwhile to see who’s doing well (or badly) as of a given point in time. I hope to post this every Monday after today.
As for the numbers: If you’re wondering why the Pirates are farther out of first than all but five major league teams, it’s mostly the Cubs, but check out the National League ERA trailers as well. And if you’re wondering whether there is a Cy Young Award curse, check out the American League ERA trailers.
